There are many stories about the lives, the good times, the bad times and the ways that our wonderful women have managed their solo lives. If a reader wishes to share a story here, or tips, ideas, recipes particularly for the senior solo lady, we are happy to post them here. Names and identifiers will not be used in the stories. They can be fiction or true, but do let us know if it is a true story. Send your story to firstname.lastname@example.org
Homeless in a Van
I met this lady some months ago. She was boarding with a friend. She was working part-time in one of the major supermarkets – packing shelves. The work was inconsistent. Her only income was from “the dole”. She was keen to work and had a variety of skills and experience, but her age appeared to be against her. She had driven to Queensland from a southern state in a small van.
The payment for board took up most of her income, so eventually, she chose to live in her van. She parks near public toilets at night, and has learned to live “on the streets”.
She is not the only solo women living in a van in the area in which I live.
